Know Your Therapist
Hello, I’m Shreya Rakesh Haran - a therapist, an observer of human emotions, and someone who finds deep meaning in both silence and laughter. Over the last 6 years, my work has evolved beyond therapy alone; it has become about creating spaces where people feel safe enough to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves. PsyTaara was born from that intention.
To me, the human mind resembles the universe - vast, layered, constantly shifting, carrying both darkness and light at once. Just like celestial bodies move through phases, I believe people, too, are allowed to change, unravel, and rediscover themselves gently, at their own pace.
My therapeutic style is playful, reflective, art-based, and deeply client-led. I value conversations that feel human; where insight can coexist with humour, vulnerability with warmth, and healing with authenticity. Clients often describe leaving sessions feeling lighter, more grounded, and able to see themselves with greater clarity and compassion.
Outside the therapy room, I’m an introverted, book-loving, music-loving person who enjoys long drives, cheesy comfort food, and classic Bollywood comedies like Hera Pheri, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and Priyadarshan films - stories that remind me how healing often lives in connection, absurdity, and shared laughter.
PsyTaara is a queer-affirming, reflective, and emotionally safe space built for anyone seeking understanding, perspective, or simply a moment to breathe beneath the noise of everyday life.

A SPACE TO FEEL SAFE, WARM, NON-JUDGEMENTAL, AND DEEPLY HUMAN
The human mind is a lot like the universe: layered, vast, ever-changing, and quietly holding stories waiting to be understood.
PsyTaara was born from the idea that healing does not always mean “fixing”; sometimes, it simply means coming home to yourself.
Like stars that continue to shine even in darkness, every person carries an inner light, even in moments when they cannot see it themselves.
This space was created to pause from the noise of the world. Here, conversations are not rushed, emotions are not “too much,” and growth is allowed to happen gently.
Whether you arrive feeling lost, overwhelmed, curious, or simply tired, PsyTaara welcomes you exactly as you are. Because sometimes, healing begins with being seen.
I am extremely satisfied with this product! It exceeded my expectations with its quality and performance. The customer service was excellent, and delivery was prompt. I highly recommend this to everyone.

The PsyTaara Philosophy:
Where Psychology Meets the Star Within
PsyTaara is born from the fusion of psyche, the inner world of thoughts, emotions, and identity and sitaara, the Hindi word for star. Together, they form a guiding idea: Every mind carries its own star, and therapy is the journey back to its light. We often move through life dimmed by experiences of stress, grief, expectations, or unresolved stories that blur our inner radiance. PsyTaara represents the belief that healing is not about becoming someone new, but rediscovering the luminosity that has always been within you.
This philosophy rests on three ideas:
1. Inner Navigation - Self awareness Just like stars guided travelers, our emotions, movements, and creative impulses guide us toward understanding ourselves. Therapy becomes a compass—helping individuals read their own internal sky.
2. Light Through Layers - Stars shine through vast layers of darkness. Similarly, the human psyche contains layers—memories, traumas, joys, patterns. Through therapeutic interventions carefully curated for you, PsyTaara helps gently uncover these layers so your light can emerge with clarity and strength.
3. Collective Constellations - Every individual star is part of a larger constellation. At PsyTaara, healing is relational: connection, community, and shared experiences shape our wellbeing. Whether working with children, or adults, the aim is to help each person find their place in a meaningful constellation.
In essence: PsyTaara is the theory that every person holds a star of potential, resilience, and inner wisdom—and therapy is the process of helping that star shine with intention.
Psychotherapeutic Approaches used:
1. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) – was developed by Dr. Aaron T. Beck in the 1960s. This form of therapy focuses on the present and assists you to build specific skills to manage mental health concerns.
2. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) – is a form of Cognitive Behavior Therapy developed by Dr. Albert Ellis in 1955. This form of psychotherapy focuses on examining your unhealthy thoughts which largely maintain your emotional and behavioral disturbances.
3. Arts-Based Therapy (ABT) – is a contemporary therapy based on traditional and modern artistic material. In ABT, there is a concurrence of art forms (drama, music, and visual arts). This enables a practitioner to acquire a generic vocabulary of stories, songs, roles, rhythms, drawings, and colors, and use appropriate combinations to address specific client needs.
4. Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) – is a psychotherapeutic tool that improves wellness based on the premise that the body and mind interconnect. Anything that affects the body will also affect the mind, and vice versa. This therapy uses movement to improve health and well-being.
5. Person-Centered Approach (PCT) – was developed by Carl Rogers (1940s). It is a non-directive approach to talk therapy that focuses care on the needs of the individual. . Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA, usually for children and adolescents) – ABA therapy works on the idea that behavior is learnt and is not innate. It is learnt through the consequences of a previous action. ABA focuses on improving people’s socially significant behavior.
7. Queer Affirmative Counseling - Queer-affirmative counselling is an approach rooted in acceptance, equality, and cultural sensitivity. It recognises the impact of societal pressures on LGBTQIA+ mental health. The goal is to offer informed, respectful support that nurtures growth and self-affirmation.
8. Gottman’s principles for Marriage Counseling - Couple’s therapy is a form of talk therapy designed to help couples resolve relationship issues. The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
